The Rest sofa was designed for Muuto by the Norwegian studio Anderssen & Voll, and the name describes the brief exactly. Rest is deliberately soft: wide low arms, a deep seat and generous cushioning, all sitting on slim turned oak legs that keep the piece from feeling heavy. It is a sofa built to sink into, which makes it a strong choice for lounges, quiet rooms, executive waiting areas and the softer corners of an open plan office.
This pre-owned Rest is the two seater in dark gray fabric on natural oak legs. The upholstery is a flat woven textile with a subtle texture that reads as charcoal in most light, and it covers the arms and base in one continuous run so the sofa presents as a single soft mass. Two seat cushions and two back cushions sit within the frame, both deep and softly filled, and the arms are wide and low enough to use comfortably as a place to rest an elbow or set down a cup. The oak legs are left in a natural finish and are the only element that breaks the dark palette.
At 79 inches wide and just over 36 inches deep, this is a genuinely full size two seater, and the depth is what makes it comfortable for long stays. The proportions were drawn for lounging: a low seat height, a slightly reclined back angle and enough seat depth that a person can sit all the way back into it. That combination is why Rest turns up in reception lounges, library and study spaces, wellness rooms and residential settings alike. The dark gray finish is practical in a shared space and pairs easily with wood, brass and warm neutrals.
