Muuto Fiber Used Side Chair w Swivel Base, Black
Muuto is the Copenhagen design house behind some of the most recognizable Scandinavian furniture of the last twenty years, and the Fiber series by the Danish duo Iskos-Berlin is one of its best known. Launched in 2014, Fiber takes its name from the shell material: a composite of roughly 25 percent FSC certified wood fiber blended with polypropylene, injection molded in a single piece. The wood content gives the shell a soft matte finish and a warmer, less plasticky feel than a standard molded chair, and Iskos-Berlin’s work is held in collections including MoMA.
This is the Fiber Side Chair on the swivel base, with a black shell mounted on a black four star aluminum base that rotates a full 360 degrees. The base sits on glides rather than casters, so the chair turns freely in place without rolling away from the table. That combination suits meeting rooms and touchdown desks well: people can pivot toward a screen or a colleague without scraping the chair across the floor, but the chair stays exactly where it was left.
Iskos-Berlin shaped the shell with a deep waterfall seat and a flared back that curves around the sitter, so it holds up through a long meeting without upholstery. The shell is a single molded piece with no seams to split, it wipes clean with a damp cloth, and the wood fiber composite is fully recyclable. That combination of a durable surface and a genuinely comfortable shaped shell is why the Fiber series turns up in cafeterias, meeting rooms, breakout areas, lobbies and dining spaces alike.
