Muuto Fiber Used Armchair w Sled Base, Black
Muuto is the Copenhagen design house behind some of the most recognizable Scandinavian furniture of the last twenty years, and the Fiber series by the Danish duo Iskos-Berlin is one of its best known. Launched in 2014, Fiber takes its name from the shell material: a composite of roughly 25 percent FSC certified wood fiber blended with polypropylene, injection molded in a single piece. The wood content gives the shell a soft matte finish and a warmer, less plasticky feel than a standard molded chair, and Iskos-Berlin’s work is held in collections including MoMA.
This is the Fiber Armchair on a sled base, with a black shell carried on a black powder coated steel sled. The armchair shell is the wider of the two Fiber shapes: the sides sweep up and around into integrated armrests that are part of the same molded piece, so there are no separate arm components bolted on. Sitting down in it feels closer to dropping into a small tub chair than perching on a dining chair, and the seat sits at a standard 18 inch height.
Iskos-Berlin drew the shell to hold the sitter rather than simply support them, with a deep waterfall seat, a curved lumbar zone and arms that arrive at exactly the height most people rest their forearms. The shell is a single molded piece with no seams to split, it wipes clean with a damp cloth, and the wood fiber composite is fully recyclable. That combination of a durable surface and a genuinely comfortable shaped shell is why the Fiber series turns up in cafeterias, meeting rooms, breakout areas, lobbies and dining spaces alike.

Very good condition: We purchased this chair as part of a liquidation, and it arrived at our warehouse new in the manufacturer’s box. We are selling it as used. It is inspected by our quality control team and cleaned as needed before it ships. Expect a clean, sound chair with a damage free frame and, at most, very slight handling marks.
