Global Used 4 Drawer 36 Inch Lateral File, Putty
Global has manufactured office furniture out of Toronto since 1966 and is one of the largest producers of steel filing in North America. A four drawer lateral is the highest capacity cabinet that still opens safely in a normal aisle, and 36 inches is the width that matches the standard casegood and panel module. That combination is why this format ends up in records rooms, HR departments, finance groups and legal offices where filing volume is the constraint and floor area is not negotiable.
This pre-owned unit measures 18 inches deep by 36 inches wide by 54 inches high. The steel case is finished in putty, a warm neutral that has been a filing standard for decades, with a recessed toe kick and a recessed rectangular pull centered on each of the four drawer faces. A lock at the top of the case secures all four drawers together, and a drawer interlock permits only one drawer to be open at a time.
Four drawers stack a lot of filing capacity into one floor footprint, which is the entire reason to run a four drawer case. Letter and legal folders file side to side across the full 36 inch width, so the whole run of files in a drawer is visible and reachable the moment it opens. Ball bearing suspension keeps the drawers moving under a full load, steel file rails with adjustable compressors hold folders upright as a drawer empties, and a counterweight in the base keeps the cabinet planted when the bottom drawer is fully extended.
