Global has manufactured office furniture in Toronto since 1966, and its steel storage cabinets are the pieces that end up doing the unglamorous work in an office: supplies, files, spare equipment, marketing collateral, everything that has to be out of sight but within reach. A two door cabinet at this height is the most placeable version, because the top lands where a counter lands and the doors swing clear in a normal aisle.
This pre-owned cabinet measures 18 inches deep by 36 inches wide by 40.5 inches high. The steel case and doors are finished in silver, with slim full height recessed pulls running down the center where the two doors meet and a lock on the right hand door. Inside, three shelf levels divide the cabinet, two of them adjustable on punched steel standards that run the full height of the case. An Everyday Cement laminate top is fitted over the case, a light gray woodgrain with a squared edge.
The adjustable shelving is what makes a cabinet like this last through several tenants. Standards punched at close intervals mean the interior can be set for reams of paper one year and archive boxes the next without any modification. The doors are double walled steel with a three point latch mechanism driven from the lock, so both doors secure together at the top and the bottom of the case, and the added laminate top turns the cabinet into a genuine work surface.
