Rather than the flat plastic shell most stacking chairs use, this one carries a padded, contoured back that meets the spine across a broad surface, and the seat is upholstered over foam rather than sitting directly on a hard pan. The arms are integral to the frame, so there is nothing to work loose over years of stacking and unstacking.
The tubular steel frame is welded rather than bolted at the load points, which is the construction that lets a stacking chair survive being carried, dropped, and stacked several hundred times.
