Teknion has built office furniture out of Toronto since 1981, and Amicus is the seating family it developed for the rooms around the workstation rather than the workstation itself. The line covers guest chairs, side chairs and conference seating on a common design language, which is why you find Amicus in reception areas, meeting rooms, private offices, waiting areas and training rooms across a lot of North American buildings. It is a chair specified for durability first and appearance a close second.
This pre-owned unit has been reupholstered in new black satin PU leather across both the seat and the back pad, so the surfaces you touch are fresh and unmarked. The upholstery sits on a black moulded poly back shell with a curved cutout below the back pad, carried on a black tubular steel four leg frame with fixed curved arms. The arm caps are a textured black that gives a bit of grip, and the whole chair reads as a single tone, which is what makes it easy to place next to almost any desk or table.
Satin PU is a practical surface for guest seating. It wipes clean with a damp cloth, which suits a reception area that sees steady traffic. The four leg frame is stable on hard floors and carpet alike, the curved arms give visitors a solid push off point when they stand, and there is nothing on the chair to adjust or maintain.
