Steelcase built the VL2 Series for the inside corner of a floor plan. This corner top follows the angle of the walls, wrapping the work surface around the sitter so monitors, paperwork and a phone all sit within easy reach. Put it in a private office, a corner workstation, a control or dispatch position, a reception back of house or a home office built into a corner, and the corner becomes the most usable surface in the room.
This pre-owned VL2 is a 46 by 46 inch corner top in white laminate on a gray electric base. The top is cut as a five sided corner shape with a long angled front edge and rounded corners, so the front edge stays soft and comfortable to pass by. Two telescoping columns carry the top, tied together by a horizontal steel brace, and each column sits on a broad cast foot that spreads the load while keeping the leg room open. A simple two button controller mounts under the front edge of the top, within reach from a seated or standing position.
The columns are three stage, which is the detail that matters most on a sit stand base. Three telescoping segments per leg give the desk a long travel range from a compact collapsed height, and this desk runs from 25 inches at its lowest setting to 50 inches at its highest. That covers a seated position for a shorter user at the bottom of the range and a genuine standing position for a tall user at the top, on one desk, at the press of a button.
