Description
Steelcase Used L-shaped Sit Stand Desk w Computer Corner and Right Return, Off White
Lifting a rectangular desk is a straightforward problem. Lifting an L-shape is not, and that is the reason so few genuine L-shaped sit-stand desks exist. Three legs have to travel in perfect step under a load that is never evenly distributed, or the corner racks and the surface goes out of level. Steelcase solved it in the Series 7 program with three-stage synchronized lifting columns driven from a single central control box, and this pre-owned Steelcase Series 7 L-shaped sit stand desk is that engineering in its most demanding configuration.
The unit has an off white high-pressure laminate worksurface with a fine speckled pattern, finished with a soft rolled edge and mounted on a black three-leg steel base. The main run measures 24 inches deep by 80 inches wide with a 24 inch deep by 60 inch wide return on the right, and the inside corner is cut into a concave computer corner so the user sits into the intersection rather than reaching across it. A black crossbeam ties the legs together beneath the surface, and a keypad under the front edge carries up and down arrows, three numbered presets, and a set button. The desk moves between 24.5 inches and 51.5 inches.
The columns are three-stage with integral shrouding, which is what lets the desk reach past 51 inches while still collapsing to a normal seated height, and they travel at 1.7 inches per second. A soft-stop motor ramps the movement in and out so nothing on the surface shifts when the desk starts or stops. Steelcase rates the three-leg configuration at 540 pounds of distributed load with the worksurface included, and the base sits on 2.5 inch glides carrying 25 over 32 of an inch of leveling adjustment, so the desk can be brought square on a floor that is not. The worksurface itself is high-pressure laminate over a 45 pound particle board core, the same construction Steelcase specified across the program.
