Steelcase Used L-shaped Sit Stand Desk w Computer Corner and Left Return, Off White
The computer corner is the detail that separates a real corner workstation from two desks pushed together, and it is the first thing to notice about this Steelcase L-shaped sit stand desk with a left return. Instead of a square inside corner that puts the user at arm’s length from both wings, the worksurface is scooped into a concave curve that draws the chair into the intersection. Both the main run and the return stay within comfortable reach from a single seated position, which is exactly what a corner desk is supposed to deliver and frequently does not.
This pre-owned unit is the left return configuration. The main surface measures 24 inches deep by 80 inches wide, and the return runs 24 inches deep by 60 inches wide off the left side. The top is an off white high-pressure laminate with a fine speckled pattern and a softly rolled edge profile, mounted on a black three-leg steel base with a crossbeam tying the legs together underneath. A slim black keypad sits under the front edge with up and down arrows and three numbered memory positions. The whole L-shape, corner included, adjusts from 24.5 inches seated to 51.5 inches standing.
Series 7 was built by Details, a Steelcase company, and the engineering shows in how the three legs behave. Three-stage synchronized lifting columns with integral shrouding are driven from a central control box, so the surface stays level even when the weight on it is not evenly distributed, which is the usual failure mode for a large L-shape on independent motors. The columns move at 1.7 inches per second, the motor uses a soft-stop so the surface never jolts at the ends of travel, and the desk stops anywhere in its range rather than at fixed increments. Steelcase rates the three-leg configuration at 540 pounds of distributed load including the worksurface itself.
