Description
Steelcase Used 5 Drawer 36 Inch Lateral File, White
This is the tall Steelcase lateral in its cleanest form. Where most high capacity cabinets bolt hardware onto the drawer faces, this one uses full inset pulls, a continuous recessed grip channel across the top of each drawer, so the front of the cabinet is an uninterrupted white plane and the aisle stays completely clear. In a narrow records room or a corridor of file cabinets, that detail is practical as much as it is clean looking. Steelcase has built steel office furniture in Grand Rapids since 1912.
This pre-owned unit is finished in white and measures 18 inches deep by 36 inches wide by 65.5 inches high. The top position is a compartment with a door that raises vertically on a hinge at the back edge, and inside there is a shelf, which makes that bay useful for supplies, boxed media or anything that suits open storage better than a hanging folder. Four full width file drawers sit below it, and a lock secures the cabinet at the top.
The four lower drawers take letter and legal folders filed right to left across the width, so a drawer opens and the entire run of files is in front of you. Ball bearing suspension carries them under a full load, and steel file rails with adjustable compressors keep folders standing upright as a drawer empties out. At 65.5 inches the cabinet puts the wall height to work for roughly double the capacity on the same footprint, and the counterweighted base holds it steady when the bottom drawer is loaded and fully extended.
