Description
Steelcase Used 3 Drawer 30 Inch Lateral File, White
Thirty inches is the width people forget exists. Measure the wall first and a 30 inch lateral often turns out to be the size that actually fits, clearing a doorway and stopping flush with the end of a desk run. and Steelcase has built this size for as long as it has built the category, out of the same Grand Rapids plants and to the same standard as the wider cabinets. It fits between a desk return and a wall, under a narrow window, or in the leftover bay of a private office where it lands exactly right.
This pre-owned unit is finished in white and measures 18 inches deep by 30 inches wide by 40 inches high. The case is welded steel with a flush top, a recessed toe kick and three full width pull out file drawers. Every drawer carries its own lock, so one cabinet can hold three separately secured sets of records, which is genuinely useful when a shared office needs HR, finance and general files in the same footprint. The interior is finished in black with steel file rails and adjustable compressors.
Even at the narrower width, files still sit side to side across the drawer, which is the entire advantage of a lateral. You open a drawer and the whole run of folders is in front of you. The 40 inch height puts the top of the cabinet a little above desk height, so it works as a printer stand or a landing surface at the end of a workstation, and the counterweighted base keeps it planted when a loaded lower drawer is pulled all the way out.
