A back to back sit stand bench is how most open plan floors seat two people in one efficient footprint. Two work surfaces share a single structural frame, a screen runs down the middle to separate the sightlines, and each side raises and lowers on its own power. This Steelcase workstation is built exactly that way, and it suits open plan teams, benching layouts, technical and engineering groups, call centers, project rooms and any floor built around light, flexible seating positions.
This pre-owned unit is a complete two person station. Each side carries a white laminate work surface measuring 27 inches deep by 65 inches wide on its own pair of telescoping columns, so one person can stand while the other stays seated. A graphite privacy screen mounts above each surface and rises 20 inches above it, tall enough to block a monitor and a line of sight across the desk, and a light gray modesty divider sits between the two work surfaces below the screens. A surface mounted power bar with three outlets clamps to the divider rail and is positioned where both sides can reach it. Overall depth across both work surfaces is 60.25 inches.
Each side has its own digital controller set into the underside of the front edge, with up and down paddles, three memory presets and a set button, so a user can save their own seated and standing heights and return to either with one touch. The work surface height range runs from 24 inches at its lowest to 50 inches at its highest, which covers a seated position for a shorter user through a standing position for a tall one. The columns and frame are finished in graphite, and the frame carries a cable channel running the length of the station under the surfaces.
