Steelcase Coalesse Used Lottus Enea Stack Chair, White and Blue
The Lottus chair was designed by Lievore Altherr Molina for the Spanish manufacturer Enea and brought to the North American contract market through Coalesse, Steelcase’s design forward brand. It has become a fixture in cafes, training rooms, break rooms, conference spaces and university commons because it manages to be genuinely light and stackable without looking like disposable stacking seating.
This pre-owned Lottus is the four leg stacking version with a white molded polypropylene shell and a blue upholstered seat pad, set on a white powder coated steel tube frame. The shell is a single continuous piece that curves from the back down into the seat with a gentle waist, and the fabric seat pad is inset flush into the shell so the two surfaces sit level. The frame legs taper slightly outward and carry protective floor glides.
The engineering behind Lottus is what makes it worth owning secondhand. The polypropylene shell is injection molded in one piece, so there are no joints to loosen and nothing to reupholster on the back, and the shell flexes slightly under load to give the sitter more comfort than the thin profile suggests. Chairs stack vertically for storage and transport, which matters in rooms that get reset constantly, and the shell wipes clean in seconds in food service areas.
