The Riviera lounge chair by goSIT is a high back swivel lounge chair in the mid century tradition, the kind of enveloping wing shape that reads as a destination in a room rather than another piece of seating. goSIT builds it as a genuine executive lounge piece rather than a decorative accent, with a stainless steel frame carried inside the shell and a high density polyurethane foam rated at 70 density, so the chair holds its shape through years of daily use. Riviera suits executive offices, private waiting areas, reception lounges, focus rooms, hotel style lobbies and residential feeling breakout corners in a corporate floor plan.
This new Riviera is upholstered in a deep blue EPU faux leather across the entire shell, seat and arms, a soft slate leaning navy with a fine leather grain and a matte finish. The shell is a single continuous form. It rises from the seat into two low sculpted arms, sweeps up through a narrow waist and opens again into a tall winged back that curves forward at the top to cradle the head and shoulders. A single seam runs the height of the outer back and one more traces the arm line, and there is very little other detailing, which is what keeps the silhouette clean. The seat is a separate cushion set into the shell. Underneath, the chair sits on a wide polished aluminum four star base with a chrome column.
The Riviera is built to be lived in. The 16 inch seat height and the deep, reclined shell angle put the sitter into a genuine lounge position rather than an upright work posture, and the winged back is tall enough to support the head without a separate headrest. The aluminum swivel mechanism turns a full circle, so the chair works in the middle of a room where people approach it from any direction. At roughly 52 pounds the chair has real mass in the base, which keeps it planted when someone drops into it, and the EPU surface wipes clean with a damp cloth, which is why this material keeps turning up in public facing rooms.
