Poppin built its name on the idea that office supplies and office furniture did not have to look like office supplies and office furniture. The company launched in New York in 2009 selling direct rather than through dealers, and its storage pieces became a fixture in startup and creative offices because they were designed to sit out in the open instead of being hidden under a desk. The mobile file pedestal is the piece that shows the approach most clearly: same steel construction and same filing capability as any contract pedestal, but with softened corners, a slim profile, and a finish that reads more like a piece of furniture than a piece of equipment.
This pre-owned Poppin pedestal is finished in white powder coated steel with rounded vertical corners, three drawers, and slim white wire pull handles on each drawer face. There is a keyed lock in the top drawer face, and the Poppin wordmark is embossed into the lower drawer. The configuration is box box file: two shallow drawers up top for supplies and cables, and a deep bottom drawer that takes hanging folders. The interior of the file drawer is finished in white rather than raw galvanized steel, which is a small detail that tells you where the money went on this piece. It rolls on four casters.
At 20 inches deep by 16 inches wide by 25 inches high, this is a compact pedestal that still holds full size letter files, and the depth is shorter than most contract pedestals, so it tucks under shallower desks and benching tops that a 22 or 24 inch case would overhang. The rounded corners are not just styling either: on a mobile unit that lives in a walkway, a radiused corner is the difference between brushing past it and catching a hip on it.
