Naughtone is the British design studio, now part of the Herman Miller group, known for lounge pieces that carry a soft residential shape on top of proper contract construction. This chair shows that thinking clearly. The upholstered shell sweeps up and around into a high wrapping back that gives the sitter a pocket of enclosure, and it rests on the thin blackened steel legs that recur across the Naughtone range. It suits reception areas, lobbies, breakout spaces, quiet zones in open plan floors and executive waiting rooms.
This pre-owned chair is upholstered in a charcoal gray woven fabric across the shell, inside back and seat cushion. The weave is a fine two tone texture that reads as a deep neutral gray and works with almost any palette already in a building. The shell is a single continuous form with a raised band across the top of the back, the seat is a separate rounded cushion set into the bowl, and the base is four slim black powder coated steel legs, splayed and tied together with a stretcher at the rear.
