This new table is finished in Truffle, a deep brown woodgrain laminate with pronounced grain, and topped with a single piece of frosted white tempered glass. The two panel bases carry brushed silver trim down their vertical edges, and a laminate stretcher ties them together beneath the top for rigidity. The glass rests on small standoffs above the laminate surface, which leaves a shadow line around the perimeter and lets light run along the edge of the glass. The table measures 71 inches along its long axis, tapers from 39.75 inches at the flat end to 47.25 inches at its widest, and stands 30 inches tall.
The half boat profile is a practical shape rather than a decorative one. Keeping one end flat means the table can be staged tight against a wall, positioned under a wall-mounted display, or paired directly with a credenza without leaving an awkward gap. The bowed opposite end widens the table through the middle, which gives everyone seated along the sides a clearer line of sight to the people across from them and to whatever is being presented. At six feet this table seats five. The flat end is meant to sit against a wall, so it gives up the seat that end would otherwise hold and the chairs run around the three open sides, with the extra length going into elbow room rather than another place setting. The glass surface handles laptops, coffee, and daily use without staining or ringing.
