Knoll SoHo Used Work Chair, Red and Black
The Knoll SoHo work chair was built for the way offices actually use seating on a busy floor. Knoll has been making furniture since 1938 and has spent that time on the design end of the contract market, but the SoHo sits in a more practical corner of the catalog: a compact, no-nonsense swivel chair meant for the desks, shared workstations, training rooms, and meeting spaces where a full ergonomic task chair is more chair than the job needs. It is the sort of piece that gets bought fifty at a time and is still in service a decade later.
This pre-owned SoHo has a bright red fabric seat and back on a black plastic outer shell, with black closed loop arms and a black five star base on casters. The back is a rounded pad that floats slightly clear of the seat, and the black shell behind it carries a row of narrow vent slots that let the back flex as you lean into it. The seat is a generous scooped cushion with a rounded front edge, and there is a blue paddle under the seat for the height adjustment so it is easy to find without looking.
The SoHo keeps the control set short on purpose. Pneumatic seat height adjustment and a recline lock cover what most people actually change, and the closed loop arms give you something to push off without adding width that would stop the chair tucking under a desk. It swivels a full circle and rolls, so one chair can serve a desk in the morning and a huddle table in the afternoon.
