Knoll ReGeneration Used Light Gray Back Task Chair, Black Satin PU Leather Seat
ReGeneration by Knoll is what happened when Formway and Knoll went back to the Generation chair and asked how much they could take away. The goal was fewer parts, less material and a smaller environmental footprint, without giving up the free movement that made the original worth specifying. What came out is a lighter task chair that still lets the sitter lean forward, back or sideways without wrestling the chair, and it has become a common specification in technology companies, agencies, coworking spaces and open plan offices.
This pre-owned ReGeneration has a light gray flexing mesh back on a black frame with a black five star base on casters. The seat has been fully reupholstered by our shop in a new black satin PU leather, so the surface you sit on is brand new even though the chair itself is pre-owned. The back is Knoll’s Flex Back, an elastomeric panel carried in a frame that bends at the sides, so leaning into one corner of the back is met with give instead of a hard stop. The arms are height adjustable with black pads, and the light gray back keeps the chair visually quiet in an open room.
The most useful piece of engineering here is one you never touch. Knoll’s Dynamic Suspension response reads the sitter’s weight and sets recline resistance automatically, so there is no tension dial to get wrong and the chair fits whoever sits in it. Lateral flex in the back is what makes it possible to turn and sit half sideways during a conversation without the chair pushing back. ReGeneration is GREENGUARD Gold certified, holds a level 3 certification under the BIFMA e3 sustainability standard, and Knoll publishes it as up to 60 percent recycled content.
