Knoll ReGeneration Used Bronze Back Task Chair, Black Satin PU Leather Seat
ReGeneration by Knoll took the ideas behind the original Generation chair and stripped them down to the fewest parts that could still deliver them. Formway and Knoll set out to build a chair with a smaller material footprint, fewer components and no loss of movement, and the result is a task chair that weighs less, uses a high percentage of recycled content, and still lets the sitter lean in any direction. It has become a standard specification in technology companies, agencies, coworking spaces and open plan offices.
This pre-owned ReGeneration has a bronze flexing mesh back on a black frame with a black five star base on casters. The seat has been fully reupholstered by our shop in a new black satin PU leather, so while the chair itself is pre-owned, the surface you actually sit on is brand new with no wear on it at all. The back is Knoll’s Flex Back, an elastomeric panel whose frame bends at the sides, so leaning into a corner of the back is met with give rather than resistance. The arms are height adjustable with black pads.
The engineering worth knowing about is in the recline. ReGeneration uses Knoll’s Dynamic Suspension response, which reads the sitter’s weight and sets the recline resistance without any tension dial to fiddle with, so the chair fits a new person the moment they sit down. The back also flexes laterally, which is what lets someone turn and sit half sideways without the chair fighting them. ReGeneration is GREENGUARD Gold certified, carries a level 3 certification under the BIFMA e3 sustainability standard, and Knoll publishes it as up to 60 percent recycled content and highly recyclable at end of life.
