Knoll Generation Used Task Chair w Aluminum Base, Blue
Generation by Knoll was designed by Formway and launched as Knoll’s answer to a problem most task chairs ignore: people do not sit still, and they do not sit square. They lean sideways to talk to someone, they hook a leg over an arm, they turn and sit half backward to look at a second screen. Generation was engineered to allow all of that, which is why Knoll describes it as elastic seating rather than adjustable seating. It is a standard specification in corporate offices, technology companies, agencies and home offices.
This pre-owned Generation has a light gray flexing mesh back, a navy blue upholstered seat and a polished aluminum five star base on casters, with black arm pads on height adjustable arms. The back is Knoll’s Flex Back Net, a stretched elastomeric panel carried in a frame that bends at the sides, so the back gives way when you lean into a corner of it instead of resisting. The arms are mounted to the seat rather than the back, so they travel with you through a recline.
What makes Generation unusual is how little it asks of the user. Knoll’s Dynamic Suspension response continuously matches the recline resistance to the sitter’s weight without a tension dial, and the back’s flexing frame handles side to side movement on its own. The adjustments that remain are the ones that genuinely differ between people: seat height, seat depth, arm height and a recline lock. Generation is GREENGUARD Gold certified and holds a level 3 certification under the BIFMA e3 sustainability standard, the highest tier in that program.
