Knoll Calibre Used 42 Inch 4 Drawer Lateral File, Black

Calibre is Knoll’s steel storage system, and like most things Knoll has produced since Florence Knoll set the company’s design direction in the 1950s, it was drawn as architecture rather than equipment. The Calibre line covers lateral files, storage cabinets, pedestals, and towers built on shared dimensions and a shared visual language, so a whole storage wall can be assembled from the family and read as one continuous element. The defining Calibre detail is the drawer face: a full width horizontal reveal serves as the pull, so nothing protrudes from the front of the cabinet and the stack of drawers becomes a series of clean lines. These cabinets have held up well enough that they remain in daily use in law firms, design studios, corporate offices, and institutional file rooms decades after installation.

This pre-owned unit is finished in black with a slight gloss that catches light along the drawer reveals and emphasizes the horizontal banding of the design. All four drawers are full width and accept hanging files front to back or side to side, so one cabinet covers both letter and legal filing without extra hardware. The lock cylinder sits at the top center and secures the full stack in a single turn. The interior is finished in black with steel file rails and adjustable file compressors to keep folders upright. Measurements are 18 inches deep by 42 inches wide by 51.5 inches high.

Four drawers at 42 inches wide is the highest capacity configuration in the standard Calibre lateral range, which puts this cabinet firmly in file room and records territory rather than private office use. The drawers run on full extension ball bearing suspension so a loaded drawer clears the cabinet body entirely and the rearmost folders stay within reach without leaning into the unit. A counterweight in the base resists tipping when a low drawer is fully extended with a full load, and leveling glides underneath let the cabinet sit flat on uneven flooring. The black finish is the most forgiving choice for a heavily used cabinet, since fingerprints and scuffs read far less obviously than they do on a light neutral.

This warranty is given to the initial purchaser and is valid for a period of (10) ten years to the original purchaser from the purchase date. The warranty, which runs from the date of purchase covers defects in materials and craftsmanship found during standard commercial use of the products during the warranty period. As used in this Warranty, “defect” means imperfections in components which substantially impair the utility of the product.

Standard commercial use is defined as the proper usage by individual(s) who work an (8) eight hour, single shift work day. If a product is defective and if written notice of the defect is given to NOL within the Applicable Warranty Period, NOL at its option will either repair or replace the defective product with comparable component or product. When repairing or replacing a defective product, NOL does not guarantee matching color, grain, texture or dye lots. This warranty does not cover the cost of freight, transportation, installation or labor. NOL makes no warranty that any its products are suitable for any particular purpose and makes no other warranties, expressed or implied, other than those set forth here. In no event shall NOL be liable in either tort or contract for any loss or direct, special, incidental, consequential or exemplary damages. This warranty does not cover damage caused by transportation, labor, field service or delivery charge.

NOL does not guarantee the matching of colors, grain or texture. A product will not be considered defective, and NOL will not be obligated to replace it, if it is not installed in a proper manner (i.e., product not leveled, not secured properly, etc…). Except as noted above, NOL makes no express or implied warranties as to any product, and in particular makes no warranty of fitness for any particular use. At NOL option, product repair and/or replacement are the customer’s exclusive remedy for any and all product defects. NOL shall not be liable for consequential, economic or incidental damages arising from any product defect.

NOL may request that you replace defective parts with refurbished user-installable parts that NOL provides in fulfillment of its warranty obligation. A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part that has been installed in accordance with instructions provided by NOL, assumes the remaining warranty of the original product or THIRTY (30) DAYS from the date of replacement or repair, whichever provides longer coverage for you. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes NOL’s property. Parts provided by NOL in fulfillment of its warranty obligation must be used in products for which warranty service is claimed. Any defective hardware piece must be received back into warehouse before ANY replacement or refund will be issued.

This Warranty is expressly limited to the repair or replacement of parts and/or components of the casegood and applies only under conditions of normal use. Accessories are not included such as but not limited to lights, tack boards, glass, fabric, grommets. Storage and desk furnishings are not to be used for standing upon, work surfaces should not be sat on, nor should they be used as standing support.

Except as provided herein, NOL makes no other express or implied warranties, including without limitation any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. NOL is limited in its duty and shall have no liability or responsibility to the purchaser or any other person or entity with respect to any liability, loss or damage caused directly or indirectly by use of the product, including, but not limited to, any incidental or consequential damages. The warranty service we provide will only extend to our continental U.S customers (Continental U.S. does not include Puerto Rico, Guam, Alaska, or Hawaii). If you have forwarded the merchandise outside the Continental U.S. the warranty will be void. NOL uses 7-10 business day shipping with FedEx, UPS Ground or semi-truck freight.
