Keilhauer has been building contract seating in Toronto since 1981, and the company has a real design reputation to protect, so the pieces that carry its name tend to be quietly well made. The Juxta collection was designed for Keilhauer by the Austrian studio EOOS, and the whole family leans on soft organic shapes and rounded lines rather than hard architectural edges. Juxta covers lounge chairs, side chairs, stools, and tables, and a Keilhauer Juxta stool with tablet like this one was built for the in between spaces of a modern office: touchdown areas, lobbies, collaboration corners, and training rooms.
This pre-owned Juxta stool is the swivel tablet version. It has a round blue fabric upholstered seat cushion with a piped edge, a black five star base on casters, and a black swivel arm tablet mounted on a curved black post that arcs up from the base. The tablet is an oval work surface that swings a full arc around the seat, so you can pull it in front of you to take notes or push it out of the way and just sit. The seat itself swivels independently, and the whole stool rolls, so a person can reposition without standing up.
There is no back on this stool by design. It is meant for short focused sessions where a person perches, works for twenty minutes, and moves on, which is exactly the pattern in training rooms, huddle spaces, break out areas, and reception. The rolling base and the swing away tablet make it easy to reconfigure a room in a hurry, and the low seat height means it tucks under most occasional tables when it is not in use.
