Keilhauer Juxta Used High Back Chair with Tablet, Gray Leather
Keilhauer has built contract seating out of Toronto since 1981 and has spent that time earning a design reputation rather than competing on volume. The Juxta collection was designed for Keilhauer by the Austrian studio EOOS, and it is built on soft organic shapes and rounded lines instead of hard geometry. Juxta spans lounge seating, side chairs, stools, and tables, and a Keilhauer Juxta high back chair like this one was aimed squarely at the parts of an office that are neither a desk nor a conference room: lobbies, lounges, touchdown areas, and semi private work nooks.
This pre-owned Juxta is the high back version with an integrated tablet, upholstered in gray leather. The shell is a single sculpted form with a tall back that rises well above shoulder height and wraps forward at the sides, so a person sitting in it gets a real sense of enclosure and a bit of acoustic and visual privacy. A separate round seat cushion sits inside the shell. The upholstery is finished with clean topstitched seams that follow the curve of the back, which is what keeps a shape like this from looking bulky.
The chair sits on a polished aluminum four star base and swivels, and the tablet is a round white laminate surface carried on a brushed metal arm that sweeps around from the base. Swing it in front of you for a laptop and it becomes a work station, swing it away and the chair reads as pure lounge seating. That combination makes it a strong fit for reception areas, open lounges, training rooms, and any spot where people need to work for a while without a full desk.
