Studio 7.5 designed the whole family around a spring steel spine that flexes as soon as someone sits, so the chair fits the person without anyone reaching underneath to set it. Put it on a five star caster base with arms and pneumatic height adjustment and you have a chair that suits a boardroom, a training room, a project room, or a private office where the same seat has to work for a guest and for the person who works there.
This pre-owned unit is finished in a light gray upholstered suspension, a woven cover over the Lyris suspension that gives the surface a soft fabric feel while the weave underneath does the supporting. The frame and the loop arms are white and the five star base is polished aluminum, which is the brightest combination Setu is offered in and the one that photographs best around a light conference table. The arms are formed as one continuous sweep off the frame rather than bolted on, so the chair keeps a clean profile from the side.
The Kinematic Spine is what people remember about sitting in a Setu. The steel ribbons flex as your weight moves, so the back leans with you through a long meeting and returns as you sit forward to write, with the tension already balanced. The suspension spreads pressure across the whole seat instead of loading a few points, and the seat and back form one unbroken curve, so there is no upholstered front edge pressing behind your knees. Pneumatic height adjustment lets each person at the table set the chair to the table, which is most of what a conference chair needs to do.
