Description

Herman Miller Mirra 1 Used Felt Back Task Chair, Graphite Aireweave Seat

The Mirra was Herman Miller’s answer to a question Studio 7.5 kept coming back to: how do you build a chair back that supports a person properly without bolting a dozen separate parts together. Their solution, launched in 2003, was to mold the whole back as one polymer panel and cut it in a graduated pattern so the material itself varies in stiffness across its span. Nothing rattles loose because there is almost nothing to come loose, and that durability is why Mirra 1 chairs are still working in corporate offices, education buildings, healthcare settings and home offices twenty years on.

This pre-owned Mirra 1 has a Felt TriFlex back over a graphite AireWeave seat, on a graphite frame and five star base. Felt is Herman Miller’s soft gray green, and here it is the exposed polymer panel, so the cut pattern reads clearly across the face of the back and the color sits front and center. The graphite woven seat underneath keeps the palette grounded. Black arm pads and a graphite frame finish it as an office chair that brings a bit of color while staying easy to live with.

Functionally this is the full function specification, with adjustable lumbar support, fully adjustable arms, forward tilt, seat edge adjustment, a recline lock and pneumatic seat height. The Harmonic tilt is the mechanism people notice: a butterfly shaped spring keeps recline resistance even from upright through to full recline, so the chair moves with small shifts in posture. The FlexFront seat edge slides to suit leg length and keeps circulation clear behind the knees, and forward tilt lets the seat pitch forward for close work. The Mirra was the first chair Herman Miller developed with its Design for Environment process, an early Cradle to Cradle product, and it is GREENGUARD certified for low chemical emissions.

Features:

  • Herman Miller Mirra 1 Task Chair: Studio 7.5 design in the full function configuration.

  • Graphite AireWeave Seat: Woven suspension seat that breathes and spreads weight across its full width.
  • Harmonic Tilt: Butterfly spring recline that follows small changes in posture.
  • Adjustable Lumbar Support: Position the lumbar pad to match your own lower back.
  • Forward Tilt: Pitches the seat forward to open the hips for desk focused work.
  • Seat Edge Adjustment: FlexFront depth control keeps the seat front clear of the knees.
  • Recline Lock: Locks the back upright or at a chosen point in the recline range.
  • Fully Adjustable Arms: Height adjustment with pivoting arm pads for natural forearm support.
  • Pneumatic Seat Height Adjustment: Lever control matches the seat to the desk and the user.
  • Single Piece Molded Back: One polymer panel with very little hardware to work loose over time.
  • Designed for Disassembly: Recyclable materials account for 96 percent of the chair by weight, and it comes apart with common tools.
