Haworth Zody Used Light Gray Mesh Back Task Chair w Polished Aluminum Base, Black
Haworth built the Zody with ITO Design and with ergonomics research out of Western Michigan University, and it went on to become the first office chair recommended by the American Physical Therapy Association. Two decades later it is still specified into corporate headquarters, hospitals, university buildings and government offices, and it is one of the few task chairs that people request by name when they are told they can pick their own seating.
This pre-owned Zody is the lighter finish in the family: a light gray suspension mesh back with a black upholstered seat, light gray arm pads and back frame, and a polished aluminum five star base. The pale mesh reads much softer than the all black version and works well in bright rooms, glass fronted offices, and spaces where dark furniture would feel heavy. The bright aluminum base and seat frame carry that lighter look all the way to the floor. The arms are fully adjustable and the controls sit under the seat where they are easy to reach.
The chair’s signature is the PAL system, short for Pelvic and Lumbar. Instead of one lumbar pad it uses two supports that adjust independently on the left and right sides of the lower back, which lets people who sit slightly off center, and that is most of us, support each side properly. Pneumatic seat height, seat depth, tilt tension, a back tilt lock and a forward tilt position round out the adjustment range, and the mesh back carries your weight across its whole surface while letting air through. Zody carries Cradle to Cradle certification and is built to come apart for recycling.
