Global, now trading as Global Furniture Group, has built contract office furniture out of Toronto since 1966 and ranks among the largest manufacturers in North America. Their laminate casegoods end up in law firms, credit unions, and corporate suites, the places where a desk has to carry an executive presence and still take twenty years of daily use without complaint. This Global U-shaped laminate desk with a right return is the complete private office: a main desk facing the door, a credenza run behind the chair, and a bridge joining them so the whole workspace is reachable from a single swivel.
This pre owned station wears Asian Night from end to end, a dark charcoal woodgrain laminate with a fine linear texture carried across the tops and the case work alike. A frosted glass modesty panel in a metal frame fronts the main desk, and a fixed box box file pedestal with metal bar pulls sits underneath. The credenza behind carries a two drawer lateral file with 36 inch wide drawers alongside an open knee space. The bridge is the piece that earns its keep: a height adjustable surface on two stage metal legs with a digital LCD controller under the front edge, driving from a seated 27 inches to a standing 45 inches. This configuration is handed with the return on the right.
That mix is exactly why a U-shape is worth the square footage. There is a formal front surface for meetings, a full credenza behind for storage and spread out work, and a genuine sit stand surface engineered into the set rather than added on later. Grommets are cut into both the main top and the bridge to keep power and data off the floor, the pedestal file drawer locks, and the case work is thermofused laminate over an engineered wood core with 3mm edge banding, the construction that keeps commercial furniture from swelling and chipping the way residential pieces do. The bridge and return share the same dimensions and are interchangeable.
