ERG Used Low Stool, White
ERG International has been a family run contract furniture manufacturer since 1981, building tables and seating out of its plant in Oxnard, California. Poly shell seating is one of the things the company is known for, and this ERG low stool is a clean example of the type. The whole seating surface is a single molded polypropylene shell that forms the seat and back in one continuous piece, carried on a slim steel frame. Stools like this end up in cafes, training rooms, huddle spaces, lab and maker environments, school commons, breakrooms and any counter or standing height table zone.
This pre-owned stool has a white poly shell and a gray powder coated steel frame. The shell is shaped with a waterfall front edge and a gentle scoop through the seat, and it rises into a tapered back that flexes slightly when you lean into it. The four leg frame is a bent steel tube in a slightly splayed stance, with a full perimeter foot rail that wraps all four sides. The stool is armless, which keeps the footprint small and lets several pull up to the same table edge.
At a 22.5 inch seat height this is a low stool rather than a counter or bar stool, so it pairs with a table or work surface below standard counter height and gives a more upright, engaged posture than a tall stool does. The foot rail is doing real work at that height because it gives the sitter somewhere to rest their feet instead of dangling them. The stool also stacks, which is the practical reason rooms buy this type. A room set up for twenty can be cleared and stored in a corner in a few minutes, and the polypropylene shell wipes clean with a damp cloth, so it stands up to food, drink and shop use.
