Andreu World Nuez Lounge Bio Used Swivel Lounge Chair, Orange
The Andreu World Nuez Lounge BIO is Patricia Urquiola’s lounge design for the Valencia based manufacturer known for pairing craft furniture making with serious material science. The name comes from the Spanish word for walnut, and the shape follows the idea directly. The shell wraps around the sitter like an open shell, with a soft folded edge that rolls forward into the arms. Andreu World builds the shell from a BIO thermopolymer that is fully recyclable, biodegradable and compostable, which is what puts the BIO in the name. These chairs are specified for lobbies, executive offices, soft seating zones, collaboration corners, library lounges and hospitality settings.
This pre-owned Nuez Lounge BIO is upholstered in a warm orange fabric across the seat, inside back and arms, with the same orange carried over the outer shell in a slightly deeper tone so the chair reads two tone from the side and back. The interior of the back is stitched into soft vertical channels that give the upholstery its pillowed look and keep the padding evenly distributed. The seat carries a separate upholstered cushion. Underneath, the chair sits on a four star swivel base in a dark espresso wood finish with a low, flat blade profile.
The functional side is where this chair earns its place. The base swivels and returns to center on its own, so a row of these stays squared up in a lobby without anyone straightening them. It also carries a recline with a lock, so the sitter can set a relaxed angle and hold it. The shell height gives real shoulder and upper back support, which is unusual in a lounge chair this compact in plan. Andreu World also builds the seat foam from recycled content that is itself recyclable, and the wood used across the line is FSC certified, so the chair holds up in projects that are tracking material sourcing.
